Book Club Review: His Finances

Chapter 3: His Finances Book Club Review

“Nothing puts more pressure on a marriage than financial irresponsibility, lack of money and huge debt.” Yes! She went straight there. The author highlighted four themes that truly stand outs during this week’s chapter:

  • Tithing
  • Giving to the Poor
  • Trust God’s guidance
  • Being Responsible

“Only when we recognize that all we have comes from God, and seek to make him Lord over it, can we avoid the pitfalls that money, or the lack of it, brings” Stormie mentioned, during the financial challenges she faced in her marriage, they were able to find comfort in knowing that they had obeyed God in tithing their money to the church. “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse and see if He will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it” Malachi 3:10

The author also highlighted how faithful they had been to the poor and those in need. “Blessed is he who considers the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.” Psalms 41:1-2; “Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be heard” (Proverbs 21:13)

When you are reluctant to give, you are truly interfering with your own ability to enjoy what you have. Today we pray that our husbands will understand God’s will for their finances. I pray that my husband will always be a giver who is content with living life within his means. I pray that he will experience abundance for his diligent work and that it will always come from the hand of God. “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matthew 6:21. I pray that my husband finds his treasure in God and not his finances.

“Do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” Luke 12:29-31
